The purpose of this position is to assist the University with dispensing financial aid information to students and parents, awarding students financial aid, educating students in regards to financial aid, and ensuring the University is meeting federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.
•Serve as a liaison between Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts
•Help with phone management and meeting with visitors to the office
•View, discuss, and maintain student records
•Award financial aid and make changes related to course drops / adds
•Learn institutional, state, and federal regulations
•Navigate and utilize state and federal websites
•Educate and assist students, parents, community members, and other groups in the areas of financial aid
•Assist with supervising and training student workers
•Assist in the reconciliation of state and federal aid
•Assist with the audit process as needed
•Assist with various projects assigned by the Assistant Director or Director of Financial Aid including helping manage various types of financial aid
•Participate in night and weekend events hosted by the University
•Travel to Athens campus as often as needed
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree.
Previous office experience strongly preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
Licenses and Certification
Valid Georgia Driver’s License (or obtained within 30 days of hire date) and satisfactory MVR.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of financial aid processes, procedures, and documentation applicable to a public institution.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to maintain high accuracy and work quality standards.
Data management and tracking skills.
Ability to work independently.
Must be able to assign priorities under fast paced environment.
Excellent computer, math, verbal and written skills.
Ability to provide clear guidance and instruction to students and parents regarding financial aid.
Ability to collaboratively and effectively work in a diverse and inclusive environment.
