POSITION:                             ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL AID

REPORTS TO:                       Director of Financial Aid

SALARY RANGE:                 Low $60’s annually; depending on education and experience     

EFFECTIVE DATE:              This position is available beginning July 1, 2025

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision, the Assistant Director of Financial Aid is responsible for performing professional administrative, supervisory, and customer service duties in delivery of the student financial aid services.

Major Duties:

    • Assists the Director in the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Department;
    • Assists financial aid staff to resolve complex problems;
    • Submits reports and data as required by federal and state agencies promptly;
    • Oversees the administration of Veterans' financial aid program benefits;
    • Maintains compliance with federal and state laws, TCSG policies, and other policies related to financial aid;
    • Prepares and analyzes operational reports and other data;
    • Supervises employees, including prioritizing and assigning work, evaluating performance at scheduled intervals, and resolving any discipline issues;
    • Answers questions regarding individual student financial aid issues or complaints;
    • Manage State Funds- including awarding, invoicing, and reconciling;
    • Assists with Professional Judgements
    • Resolves errors in CHECS and submits snapshots as required
    • Assists with registration, graduation activities, and special events on campus as needed;
    • Acts as a liaison between multiple parties in resolution of conflicts;
    • May travel to other campuses in order to assist students.
    • Stays current with GSFC and GA Futures updates and trains other staff
    • Other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of work-related experience performing administrative and/or accounting functions, OR an associate’s degree and five (5) years of work-related experience performing administrative and/or accounting functions, ideally in financial aid and managing state aid programs.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge of student financial aid processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of college, state, and federal student financial aid programs, regulations, and guidelines
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations
  • Ability to effectively designate responsibility and authority to staff
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs
  • Proficient in Data Entry
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (in addition to minimum qualifications & competencies)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university;
  • Ability to complete complex, high-volume tasks in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner;
  • Prior work experience in a postsecondary educational environment, especially in Financial Aid;
  • Spanish/English language skills.

Physical Demands

Will occasionally lift or move objects of a light to medium weight, up to 20 pounds.  Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings.  Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
